0 Shrewsbury Kings Shropshire Light Infantry - Boer War Memorial

The memorial is located in The Quarry, Shrewsbury and takes the form of the statue of a soldier, with his rifle reveresed, standing on a square pedestal which has both a portrait of Queen Victoria in releive and a carved badge of the regiment; the arms and a wreath are carved above the steps; the memorial has a three stepped base. There are 146 names listed by name, rank, battalion and the manner of death. The memorial was unveiled on 22nd July 1904; the designers were Messrs. Gaffin and Co.
